Uuuuuntil we realized he had used a gel stain like paint (not wiping it off) and hadn’t sanded off the original finish. The stain he put on can be scraped off with a fingernail! Cue me crying a million tears and staring at my almost-but-actually-not-at-all-finished piano every day during lessons and feeling very down for the next (ahem) 6 years. I’m very nervous to try refinishing it myself! It’s just wood, but it seems so much more complicated because it’s also a very expensive, breakable instrument that I can’t afford to replace if I mess it up!

So, in summary, their piano is the most inspirational. Their beautiful, beautiful piano. (cue more tears)

I have often joked that my wife has taken over the house and the only rooms I get are my office, the garage and my drum room. However, I really do love my wife’s decorating style and how our home feels warm, relaxing, fun and peaceful. I like antiques and the fact that our house feels unique and personal because of her style. I also like that our house doesn’t remind me of work. It is our retreat.
