My husband and I also honeymooned for 10 days in Alaska, also flew into Anchorage, and also stayed at the Alyeska Resort. We also were completely uninterested in the cruise version of it.

Its the Seward Highway, and yeah, its also referred to as Route or Highway 1. We were confused too.

You guys are officially the ONLY other couple we have ever heard of to honeymoon in Alaska. It was a beautiful, magical place and I’d love to go back. There are some incredible lush green waterfalls off of the neighborhood you pass through to get to the resort from the highway. You literally park in a cul-de-dac and walk into an area between two houses and it feels like a world away. A waitress at a diner told us about it. If you ever go back, ask the locals about it. Its incredible.

In reply to Nancy.

All of the guides and stuff called it Route 1 or Highway 1. Maybe it has another name for locals?

Regardless, never heard of a Highway 1 in Alaska…it must go by something else?? now I’m curious!!

Yes, I know I am late coming to the game. Here I am. If you decide to go back, let me know ;-)

I had to laugh when I came across your honeymoon post because my husband and I “honeymooned” in Alaska too, as two days after getting married in 2005, we spent the next 10 days driving a U-Haul up the Alaskan Highway in a planned move to Anchorage. Although it wasn’t exactly honeymoon-like, I loved that we got to spent time recalling the wedding day details and stories. What else are you going to do to pass hours in the truck, right?
